Good morning and Happy Friday! I took the day off work today to take a much needed mental health day. Thank you to everyone who commented on my most recent post, 4 Signs the Bad Days are Making you Better. I am truly touched by everyone who reached out and commented. Being vulnerable is not something that comes easy for me, and I am encouraged by all of the kind responses.
Not only do I get an extended weekend, I also get to celebrate my 3 Month Blogiversary! Sometimes it feels like I’ve been blogging forever. It is taxing (although wonderfully so) to work 40 hours per week and then come home in the evening and blog the night away.
Because good things come in 3s, I’m sharing 3 of the most important lessons I’ve learned thus far in my 3 months of blogging. I’m also featuring 3 bloggers who have influenced and inspired me both in my personal and blogging life, and sharing 3 of my favorite posts from each of them.
3 Lessons Learned in 3 Months of Blogging
1. Community is Essential
I cannot speak enough about how amazing the blogging community is. Bloggers are some of the kindest, most authentic people I have met. I’m fortunate to have connected with a group of women right from the beginning who have encouraged me and supported me. Bloggers, if you haven’t found your people, it’s time to start looking. Blogging can be a lonely passion. The only person who truly knows the extent of the work that goes into running my blog is my husband. That’s why #communityovercompetition is especially important. My blog’s mission stresses authenticity, and what would blogging be without real relationships?
2. It’s Not about the Numbers
Or the money. At least not for now. I’ve learned that I would much rather have a tight-knit group of readers who look forward to my content and engage with me than a bunch of one-stop-shoppers. Although I have no problem with bloggers posting sponsored content, what bothers me is when I see bloggers posting ONLY sponsored content, or using deceptive methods of making money. And guess whose content I look forward to reading the most? The authentic bloggers who have their readers in mind every time they post sponsored content and promote their blogs. And when it really comes down to it, blogging is about expressing myself and helping others. The moment I make it about the money or the pageviews is the moment I burn out.
3. Don’t Neglect Self-Care
If there’s anything I’ve learned in my first 3 months of blogging, it’s that you cannot neglect self-care. Friends, you know how passionate I am about self-care. (ICYMI: Self-Care Isn’t Selfish: 3 Ways Self-Care Benefits Others, 8 Quick and Easy Self-Care Practices for Work) In many ways, blogging is a form of self-care for me. But it can also be taxing, if I allow it to be. Wednesday, I took a day off from blogging because I knew I needed it. I was feeling uninspired, exhausted, and frustrated. Work was catching up with me, and I was dragging my feet to my laptop at the end of the day. I knew that I needed to take some time to relax. I’ve learned it’s okay to take a day off if I need it, because I’m now back to feeling inspired. I’m excited to share new content with you in the coming weeks. If you’re feeling frustrated, uninspired, unappreciated, or overwhelmed, it’s time to take a step back and practice self-care.3 Lessons Learned in 3 Months of Blogging Click To Tweet
3 Bloggers who have Influenced and Inspired Me
Learning from other bloggers has been literally transformative for my own life and for my blog. Although I’ve done a lot of my own research on blogging and have asked questions, I’ve grown the most from bloggers who inspire me. These 3 bloggers are women encourage and lift up their readers through their content. They are not afraid to be real and authentic. In no particular order, here are 3 bloggers who have influenced and inspired me the most in my first 3 months of blogging.
1. Summer from Coffee with Summer
Summer was one of the first bloggers that I started following regularly. She is a Life + Style blogger, so her blog is part fashion, part lifestyle wisdom. I love Summer’s blog because of the emphasis she places on authenticity and connection!

Why You Should Take More Risks // This is one of the first posts that I read from Summer. It was especially pertinent to me when she published it, because I recently took the leap to launch my blog!
Do the Work // One of the reasons I love Summer’s blog is because she leads by example and isn’t afraid to be real about what’s on her heart. This post succinctly describes exactly how I’ve learned to blog, and why it is a passion of mine.
Self-Care Ideas for the Bad Days // Summer and I share a passion for self-care. She doesn’t pretend that her life is perfect. But she shares her wisdom on how to make the best out of bad days.
2. Rachel from The Confused Millennial
I felt connected with Rachel pretty immediately because she was a counselor in a past life too. She is a millennial blogger that shares anything from career tips to mental health to date night ideas.

I Got Fired [Twice In A Month & It’s Okay] // Rachel is another blogger who is not afraid to get a little personal. This post resonsonated with me not because I’ve been fired, but because I can feel for her about what it’s like to be burnt out and feel overwhelmed by your job. I admire Rachel’s bravery to talk about a taboo topic.
5 Signs It’s Time To Take A Step Back // I linked to this post recently too, but it’s worth talking about again! This post was the wake-up call that I needed earlier in the week to stop and take some time for myself.
5 Tips To Help You Create Content Your Audience Will Love // This was one of the first posts I read from Rachel, and it was great timing for me as I embarked on my blogging journey. She gives practical advice on how to write a blog post that will stick with people.
3. Erica from Coming Up Roses
Erica talks about so much on her blog! Whether it be fashion, blogging, beauty, or advice, Erica is your girl. One thing I love about Erica’s blog is that she has such a distinct style of writing. You KNOW it’s Erica when you read her content. It can be hard to stand out in the blogging world, but Erica seems to do it with ease and a little sass.

Baby, You’re a Firework // This is the post that made me fall in love with Erica’s content. She finds a way to be inspired by anything and everything in life, and fireworks are no exception. Find your spark and light up the darkness.
I Will Raise My Vibe // Erica talks about the importance of channeling your own positive energy and and taking responsibility for your own energy and attitudes. She has a way about making any negative into a positive.
Work Hard and Be Nice // If anything should be a blogger’s anthem, it should be “Work Hard and Be Nice.” Erica gets a little vulnerable talking about her struggles in blogging. She talks about how working hard is essential to creating your best life, but it has to be done with kindness. #communityovercompetition right?
